So last night the hotel had an Employee Appreciation Pool Party. I know it just sounds like a shit load of fun doesn’t it? Well I didn’t get in to the party until the last hour, so I can’t honestly say how it was.

I did grab a few shots of some co-workers. These pictures are of only really three people. My favorite target Stan “Is going to fucking pay for the dog remark” Lee, Jay, and Matt. Stan has been mentioned before on this site. Jay and Matt are the hotels only two regular set up guys and they are both long timers.

The only comment I will make is this. After everyone left I made my way to the frontdesk. Two of the party goers had just come back from te bar across the street. Dave a security guy and the Prince (best nickname I can think up). Part of the reason I went in to the party was to see if the Prince and his buddy (not Dave) would be there. I wanted to get a chance to converse with the guy and get to know him. To see if maybe I was wrong in what I thought of these two people.

So were are all standing at the desk and the Prince asks Dave if he would come join him in the hotel bar. Now I was standing right there. I would have gone down and had a drink with him, if asked. But I guess I’m just not good enough to drink with the Prince.

Oh well. I’m not going to lose no sleep over it. But it just confirms what I think about these people. So it goes.

It appears the isp provided to the hotel is picky about what you try to view.

Funny how it lets my site get past it’s blocking filter. I wonder how long it will take for my domain to be blocked?

Here is a neat little program I found. Here is the info on what it is and what it does (cut and pasted from the site):

IECapt is a small command-line utility to capture Internet Explorer’s rendering of a web page into a BMP, JPEG or PNG image file.

You can use IECapt for example for batch processing, to make screenshots of the entire web page rather than the currently visible area or in a CGI script hosted on a Windows web server to provide access to IE’s rendering engine from non-Windows computers.

I can’t think of any real reason to use this little program. But it’s handy for taking a whole screenshot of a webpage. It does seem to default at a screen width of 800. I say that only because most sites are best viewed at 1024×768.

So the other day we had an employee meeting. Lots of things were discussed and overall it was a good meeting. I say this not as a brown nose or as an ass kiss. “The Consultant” handled the meeting in a manner that I thought was what the employee morale needed.

And a few areas of importance were covered. Most important to me (and something that is a hot topic) was the issue of smoking in the building. As it is the management does not want employees smoking in the building. Which is cool. But my thing is I want to make sure that if I have to follow the rules everybody has to follow the rules.

Which is why I asked “does the no smoking rule apply to everyone?” Which to me is only fair. Which also brings me to announce a new feature to the site. It will be a semi regular webcam shot of the day. And to kick it off I have a “rules applying to everyone” webcam shot. And it’s beautiful.

Of course it makes you wonder if “rules apply to everyone” means something different in manager speak? I’m looking forward for more exciting webcam shots. And I know there will be more.

I was kind of worried I would get any more good webcam shots. But I had faith and good peripheral vision and so it’s my pleasure to bring you the second Webcam S.O.T.D. (shot of the day):

This one is great because it’s the old “hide it under the desk and no one will know about it” shot.

It’s a special Webcam S.O.T.D. this time around. Two pictures which are a tool for me to teach everyone a word that fits this situation. Hypocrisy is the word and here are the two pictures:

The first picture is a sign that says non-smoking room, which we all know it isn’t because we have the second picture of the used ashtray hidden under the desk still.

Hypocrisy ladies and gentlemen plain and simple.

Well I was off seven days (yes seven) and came back to work happily to find the “rules applying to everyone” still. So to commemorate the start of me working seven days in a row I give you the start of seven days worth of Webcam S.O.T.D.

All I can say about the first picture is at least it’s not hidden under the desk any more. The second picture is to keep the playing field even. Here is my attempt making sure the rules don’t apply to everyone.
