Happy New Year! 2009 is here. I spent a mostly quiet night at work. Had a few drunk assholes from a wedding party that stayed the night. But overall it was a pretty smooth night.

X-Mas went well. No fights between me and my brother. I got mostly clothes from the brother, his wife, and my mother. Damn them for ruining X-Mas like that. My mother did suppport my WoW habit by throwing in a WoW gift card with all the clothes.

I then went with the newbs (guy needs a new nickname)  to the Wisconsin Dells. Gawain made me remember not everyone knows about shit that is of local knowledge here in my neck of the woods. We stayed two nights at Wilderness Territory, a resort/water park. Me and the nephew got up early in the mornings and goofed off in various ways as his parents and sister still slept. We did some swimming and I soon realized how big the place was after walking back and forth from the hotel room to the water park parts of the resort. Thank god they had courtesy shuttles.

The year ahead has me turning 37. Which I’m ok with this one just because it happens to be one of the funny numbers. The other being 42. So hitting 37 is fine. Turinng 38 next year will be back to the same terrible dread of the past years.

Today the family celebrates the new year by eating lucky pasta as we have done for decades. It will be the entire family again. Hopefully it goes as good as X-Mas did.

So I collect comic books. Now I am old fashion enough that I prefer to read the real thing. I like to hold it and smell the paper. So I can’t download all of the comics I want to read. I have to go to a comic book store to get them. Now having worked so far in the hotel business for over 15 years (maybe 20, I’ve lost count) I have some strange ideas about the costumer always being right.

These strange ideas are what put me in my current situation. Basically I had a disagreement with the people at Tomorrow is Yesterday about a comic book I asked them to hold for me. Now they felt “holding a book” means that I’m obligated to pay for the book. They stuck to this belief and I paid for the comic and told them to stop pulling the comics I wanted. I never returned to that store. So I had to either find a local comic book store or an online comic book store. I went with the local comic book store.

Cancel all of my subscriptions. I wanted to support a local comic shop. But I can’t do business with an establishment that misses comics that I’ve asked for them to pull. I went to Tomorrow is Yesterday for over 15 years and they never once missed an issue. Perhaps it’s my fault for not coming in frequently? But I don’t think so. It’s not my job to babysit the comic shop owner. So thanks for trying. But I’ve got to go some where were I always get the comics I ask for. No matter if I come in once a week or every three months. It shouldn’t matter.

    Blah blah.

First of all, I stopped pulling your comics because YOU didn’t bother coming in for over 6 months last year. The comics that are missing are missing because of YOUR fault, not mine.

Second of all, you just stuck me with several books by Warren Ellis, because, and I quote “I want EVERYTHING that ellis puts out”

So canceling your subscriptions is not a problem. Maybe the next time you make a commitment to any establishment, you should be more responsible in showing up on a timely fashion. You are well aware after “15 years” with Tomorrow is Yesterday that you accumulate new books on an almost weekly basis. I am not your babysitter, and it’s not my responsibility to have to remind you on a monthly, or bi-monthly basis to pick up your comics. Especially when it was a problem even getting ahold of you last year because YOU failed to keep me updated on ways to contact you.

And it shouldn’t matter if I sit on an expense for 3 months?? Ok, granted, but you were M.I.A. last year for over 6 MONTHS. Take responsibility for your shortcomings.

So to recap, the books that are missing are YOUR fault, not mine. 100 bullets 91 to 93 WERE in your box for many months, but luckily, I was able to unload them to an actual buyer when you were unable to be reached.

Good luck with future endeavors, and I would appreciate you never shopping in my store again.

    Take care,
    Beloit Comic Store Owner

WoW is cancelled. I’m back to WaR. Gawain sent me many screenshots of his guys and talked just too much about Warhammer Online’s awesome RvR. So I rolled on the stupid gay role playing server G plays on as a Goblin Squig Herder:

It’s my first time playing a ranged type character. But it does have a pet. It is a nice change of pace after being a melee guy for so long.

This news story makes me smile. Shit it seems is going bad for the owners of the worst hotel ever. The article is mainly focused on that Indiana hotel those fucks bought but it does shed light on my old workplace too. Seems that Indiana hotel is in finical trouble and the city officials of Evansville are trying to get a hold of the owners.

Both the current owner of the Executive Inn and the future owner seem to be hidden behind a veil of secrecy. They don’t take phone calls at any of their offices and don’t return messages. Chicago businessman Noor Tejany has owned the Executive Inn for only two years, but the hotel is now facing serious financial problems.

Which should be no surprise to anyone who has dealt with these douche bags (or knows how they do business). Here is the bit that pertains to the worst hotel ever in South Beloit:

Further north in South Beloit, the Tejanys own and operate a Ramada Inn and that’s where a similar pattern of debts and past-due taxes show up.

The mayor of South Beloit says the city gave Tejany a $400,000 loan back in 2003 to fix up the Ramada Inn.

Officials there say the Tejanys haven’t made a payment on that loan since October and the mayor says his staff actually met with the owners yesterday to discuss their debt.

Then there are the taxes on that property. The Winnebago County Treasurer’s office tells 14 News that the owners didn’t pay their second 2007 property tax installment totaling a little more than $40,000. That past due amount was sent to the county’s tax sale where Chase Bank, the presumed mortgage holder on the property, purchased the tax debt.

All of this is good news to my ears. I only can hope that this troubled economy eats them up and spits them out. I will celebrate the day the worst hotel ever closes.

    Eleven Years Old 5:43 am-

Eleven years old now. Hitting eleven is not as big as hitting the decade mark. I also think that I’m going to stop counting now. I’ll post when I hit 15 and 20.  The site birthday for the most part is just something I keep track of. I doubt anyone out there on the net cares how old a personal website/blog gets. Part of me is happy that the site has lasted as long as it has.

It’s a record of the good and bad of some of my time at the worst hotel ever. The bad mostly. With the new job I have a huge problem of having a lack of negative topics to write about. Which truth be told negativity did power my posting while I worked at the Ramada Inn. If it wasn’t the worst hotel ever I doubt my little site would have lasted as long as it has.
