Saw this over at Gawain’s Maybe, just maybe, we are free of Uwe Boll:

Uwe Boll’s days as a human tax write-off are over: in January 2006, the Make Money By Investing In Failed Movies loophole will be closed. So, where is the guy going to get his funding now? Are you thinking what I’m thinking? FREEDOM!

One can hope that his movie making days are numbered.

Fileplanet has a sign up for the beta of Dungeon and Dragons Online going on right now. You have to be a registered member of Fileplanet to sign up. Not to be confused with the paying member of Fileplanet.

Sign Up Now! for the Dungeons & DragonsĀ® Online: Stormreach Beta for your chance to join thousands of other adventurers in playing the first-ever Massively Multiplayer adaptation of the fantasy game that started it all, Dungeons & DragonsĀ®. During the Beta you will be able to explore dangerous dungeons, defuse cunning traps, and defeat iconic enemies that could only come from the legendary world of D&D.

I’m very curious about this one. I’m a fan of pen and paper D&D. I hear that it’s a little like Guild Wars in the way it handles the game world. Cities are open for players to hang in mass, but everything else is an instance.

I was reading If these words were people, I would embrace their genocide and I realized I agree with everything Maddox has to say. Especially all the words that have evolved out of blog. I don’t know why that word rubs me the wrong way. But it does.

The word “blog” is literally shorthand for “boring;” a vulgar, overused word that strikes your ear with the dull thud of a cudgel to the soft spot of a child. It’s an abbreviation used by journalism drop outs to give legitimacy to their shallow opinions and amateur photography that seems to be permanently stuck in first draft hell. Looking in the archives of the blogs, one would expect someone who has been at it for years to slowly hone their craft and improve their writing and photographs, since it’s usually safe to assume that if someone does something long enough, he or she will eventually not suck at it. Even with lowered expectations, you’ll get a shotgun blast of disappointment in your face.

I hate when someone refers to my site as a blog. I don’t know what you would label my site as. But it sure as hell is not a blog. It’s just my website. As far as improving with time, I guess I can only hope so. The next quote makes me chuckle every time I think how hard it was to get my site design to work with WordPress:

It’s an unspoken rule that every blog must use the same layout as every other blog: long, slender columns of annoyingly condensed text, thousands of links to other blogs, plugs for shitty political books, and more links to yet more blogs

It’s all of course a matter of taste. But I like my fucked up style that I use. Lot’s of html and tables with just a very small bit of css. I would love to learn all this css shit and I’m sure I will as I play with it. That same overused look of most of these “blogs” is one of the reasons I stuck with Coranto as long as I did. That’s one of Coranto’s big pluses is how easy it is to modify once you figured out the ins and outs of it’s operation. Another advantage of Coranto is a smaller and friendlier community. WordPress has what I would call unfriendly approach to new users.

Which leads me to ask myself why I use WordPress instead of Coranto? I guess a lot of it has to do with just how much easier it is to use right out of the box. The install is like two clicks. You really can’t beat it’s ease of use. It’s getting to look a certain way that is hard. But even that isn’t so bad once you understand the basics of templates and the loop.

Everything I have learned was by myself though. Unlike the huge amounts of help I got over at the Coranto Forums. I’ve given up on the so called support forums WordPress has. You got to help yourself if you want to do anything with WordPress. In the end it’s worth it though. The ease of use I mention is the biggest factor in my decision to switch. But I can’t adopt this blog-blogger-blogoshpere attitude the majority of them have.

I’m laughing my ass off and I’m at work. The incompetent management has decided not to pay MSI and after a few faxes attempting to get payment they have stopped supporting WinPM at our hotel. So if anything goes wrong you can just say good night. It’s all over. Until the cheap fucks that are the owners of this miserable hotel decides to pay their bill.

It’s funny really because I saw the first fax when it came over through. I brought it up to the Sheriff. I tried to stress how important it is to have MSI Support. This was in early October mind you. So the hotel was warned. Pay or no more support. The Sheriff should know how important it is to have support. What if something really bad happens with the computers?

Which tonight all it was is that I couldn’t finish the reports that usually spit out after the audit is done. Big whoop. But it illustrates my point. I called support and they could not help me reprint the reports. Not that I really give a shit. Those reports don’t make or break my job. It’s management that need them. It’s just the general idea. I was really hoping for something nasty to happen. But this will serve my purposes.

Do these people think this is anyway to run a business? When you owe someone over two grand I think you have problems. And I wonder if the same thing were to happen to them if they would feel differently? Sure they would. These cheap fuckers want their money. They just don’t want to pay the bills. They want their cake and to eat it to. And god only knows how many other companies this hotel owes money. It will just continue on this way. These “owners” will never learn. It’s a sad thing really.

I was able to play with the Xbox 360 at the local Gamestop. They had the 360 version of Call of Duty 2 running and by god it was amazing. The smoke effects just blew me away. I had heard how nice it looked. I just hadn’t fallen for the hype. But holy shit it is quite impressive.

So I’m going to have to get one. I hadn’t desired the 360 until I got to try it. Big mistake. I was nervous about not having a HDTV compatible tv. Then I saw they make these nifty Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cables and I was then quite happy to blow 400 plus dollars on the system.

I was going to get one eventually. It was inevitable. It’s going to be cheaper to buy the 360 than upgrade my pc to be able to play Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. And I just have to have that game. Have you seen the E3 footage? Hot looking game. The download is worth it for this one. It looks even better than Morrowind.

I filled out a request off sheet for the 28th of this month. Which really is less of a request as it was a just to let you know kind of thing. One way or another I won’t be at work that day. While I have my personal preference between the two options.

As I see it the 28th of this month can go two ways. Either I’m given it off or I just don’t come in that night. I would prefer to be given that night off. But I’m am very serious about this day. I will not work this day again. It’s just one of many of what my dad refers to as my nervous ticks.

I see the 28th of November as a personal holiday. A date of religious significance if you will. It’s become part of my personal mythology. And I take these things very seriously. I have an almost religious fanaticism about my day.

City Of Heroes Again 3:31 am-

So I’m back to City of Heroes once more. And I also got City of Villains, which I’m enjoying quite a bit. More so than I did when it was in beta for some reason. I’m really enjoying the Mastermind archetype. I made it to level 6 recently and I’m able to control two zombie henchmen (named Nixon and Reagan) to do my biding. It’s the most fun I’ve had playing either CoH or CoV. I’ve soloed the whole so far. There’s been nothing me and my two dead presidents can’t handle:

Deaths Grasp Me and the Dead Presidents

I doubt I’ll play much with my heroes. The structure of CoV is just more forgiving to new players. Quest givers and Trainers are in one spot. Quests seem shorter for some reason. It’s just fun. And the run down look of the starting areas just make it feel all the more evil as your going about your business. I think the highlight so far with CoV was going on a bank heist. That was a lot of fun.
