So I have started to play DAoC again secretly. I say secretly because I’m not going to put back up my characters picture or the server status boxes that used to be on the right and left sides of the page. I had lost interest in playing around the same time my Pay By Cash account expired.

In the time since I have opened a checking account and now have one of those snazzy debit credit cards. So I hated the idea of losing my level 22 mercenary and paid for another month.

Of course my decision to go back to Windows 98SE has put my DAoC playtime on hold. On that front I have managed to burn one disk worth of back up files. My success rate is about one out of three attempts succeed. I hope to be running 98SE by tonight.

Well my distaste for the whole guild thing has slowly been building up. Today just took the cake. I think I’m going to be quitting the Acolytes of Destruction guild. And here is why:

Marisa: “too many dumb questions torri /gc leave”
Madagan: “she shouldnt have to leave”
Charlieloon: “true, should not have to leave, just go to web pages and get the info”
Marisa: “can someone send me a tell with this stops, so i can turn guild chat back on”

It’s sad that this has to happen. This alone is enough for me to leave. I haven’t really been participating in any guild functions, so it won’t be a change for me. So the next time I log in I’m saying goodbye to the AOD. And what an asshole this Marisa is. Fuck it’s people like her that make this a terrible game.

Well so I made it. I have some cool quests to do now. Hopefully I’ll get some good stuff. Stuff so I can kill better. But again, this is what it’s all about.

Hitting twenty allows me to get an emblem put on an article of clothing. I’m also high enough in the guild to get the emblem. It costs five gold to get the emblem put on your choice of clothing. Five gold was all I had to my name. Besides a few coppers. Here’s the emblem of the AOD that I’m wearing on my back:

Now I wouldn’t of picked purple. But I didn’t pick the colors. For that matter I wouldn’t have picked yellow and purple. But it’s no big deal. I’m just happy I’ve hit level 20.

Here it is a few hours and I can go home. This last night was my last day on, so I have four days off in front of me. The hotel has started to pick up a little bit. It wasn’t a spurt, more of a minor hiccup.

I added a few more things to the site. Over on the left (down a bit) is a DAoC server status list that tells you how many people are playing on each server. Below that is a link to a page that gives you the specifics on the Bors server. The Bors server being the one I play on.

Both of these items come the way of the DAoC Catacombs. This site has tons of info on the game. It also has a character builder where you can plan out you character from level 5-50. If you play the game add DAoC Catacombs to your bookmarks.

Well that’s about it. I’m looking forward to getting home so I can play. I’m getting a renewed enjoyment out of the game now that I’m on the verge of hitting the twenties level wise. Well I’ve got to get back to work.

Well I made it to a guild meeting after who knows how long. After the meeting I got to go on a RvR raid with my AOD guild mates. It was an interesting experience. It was my first trip to another realm. Needless to say I died. There was some disruption of the chain of command. Chaos ensued and more than just me died.

So maybe I’m going to spend some more time gaining levels before I try that again. I have 4 bounty points, whatever that means. The whole RvR thing was a chaotic mess. I will get used to it the more I go.

Well I have been playing DAoC some more and I’ve made level 19. And I have noticed that I’m getting better at killing stuff. Which really is the point of the game isn’t it? Now I’m not knocking the game. I dig it. I wouldn’t write about the game if I didn’t like it.

Sadly my hitting level 19 was a lonely event. It was me and three other AOD guild mates playing. These guys were upper twenties to low thirties. Not a peep out of them when I made my level. Usually you would type in something like “Ding, made a level” which would be followed by the others with “Congrats” and maybe a “Woot” or two.

Now I don’t blame them. They could have been busy or in the group channel. But it was a lonely moment. This is why I have to start playing during the pm hours. I have been getting on when I get home in the morning from work. The game really is more fun when playing with other people.

Oh well. I have found a great spot for hunting solo and I made my level there in just a few hours. So I’ll see if my luck holds out and maybe I’ll hit twenty by tomorrow.

Thanks Farooq. I’m trying to get back into the swing of things. Everyone that I played with before are now 40+ level wise. Like I said I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me. See you in the game.
