I tell you there is nothing like another stick of 256mb of ram to give you a sigh of relief. I had in the past some problems with a few games. For example some of the Quake 3 based games like RTCW and the Allied Assault demo.

If I ran these game with everything set to high I’d get some stuttering and shit like that. And that shouldn’t happen. Not with my rig. So I slapped more ram and bingo. Man that Windows XP is a hungry bitch.

Here’s the first Windows XP review I’ve seen. Anyone get this yet? I’m thinking about picking XP up next payday. I’m just worried if all the games I have will run on it.

Heh, I wanted to try to throw this up before I get to doing some work. I got my new video card. You can check out my 3DMark 2001 scores here. Over all I’m happy with the numbers. Jesus the numbers get me all hyped up. I will talk more about it later. After I put it to some more tests.

Well Microsoft has finally released IE6. I have gone back to my former love, after a brief affair with Opera. Opera is fine. It’s a wonderful browser. I just decided to go back to IE’s loving embrace. One of the reasons I went to Opera was because it ran really well on the old computer. It is a quick browser. But with the new pc I can afford to go back to IE. This is the final release so hopefully it is bug free. You can grab it here.

Oh yeah, I am in pc heaven. My new box that I built myself is up and running. And it is as bad as I hoped. In this instance bads means good. I just wanted to point that out.

If you read the site then you know that my old Pentium 166 (no MMX)died on me back on July 16th. I had planned on saving up for a few months and get a new one. But on a lark I decided to stop in to a local computer store. Not a chain, just a mom and pop kind of place.

The prices were awesome. I picked up a case, 256mb of ram, a AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1.2gz processor, and a motherboard all for around 400 bucks. Now to me this seems like a good deal. I figured it would cost a hell of a lot more than that.

The guys at the store were really nice. I ordered my parts on monday. And after one motherboard ending up backordered they finally got my stuff yesterday. So I put the thing together. I used my 20 gig hard drive, cd-rom, sound card, and modem from my old computer. I followed the instructions to the letter.

A few hours later I had a killer system that didn’t do a damn thing. Needless to say I’m a little bummed. Shit I’m really crushed by this. I had picked up a Geforce 2 with 64mb of on board ram to add some umph to the graphics and picked up Max Payne. Max Payne is a game with recommended system requirements of at least a 1gz processor for max graphical settings. I had planned to use that as a benchmark for how badass my system was.

I’m hoping the guys at the computer store will be able to help me. It’s just not fair.

Well it finally happened. My hard drive took a shit on me. I’m a little shocked by it. Because this really sucks. All of my important stuff is gone. What a pain. Now I’m having problems getting up and running again. My little 2 gig hard drive is the one that crashed. My 20 gig is still good. But I can’t get it to let my install Windows 98 on it. So I don’t know what to do. But give enough time I will figure it out. I just need a break or I’m going to destroy the computer in a fit of rage.
