So I just woke up around two am. The problem is I went to bed around five or six am on the morning of the 28th. I’ve slept through a day. It wouldn’t bother me so if it was any other day. Yesterday was my special day. My firing day.

Not that big of deal I suppose, it just feels like I had a day stolen from me. I guees it makes sense though I did only have a few hours of sleep after I got off of work the morning of the 27th. Oh well, I’ll just post date a post and do my firing day thing.

So today is my firing day. It’s been five years since I was fired from the hotel. Today has become the day I write about the year before, giving thanks to all my family and friends that have helped me make it through the past year. As with the others years not much has changed. 1999 is till the one I fall back on, because I’m to lazy to write all that again. Followed by 2000, 2001, 2002. I do have to add to my first list because I do have some new friends that help me get by (one way or another), and if I forget anyone I apologize in advance.

So first up I got say thanks to all of the members (past and present) of the Acolytes of Destruction, the Dark Age of Camelot guild I belong to. You guys have all been good friends in the time I’ve been playing. And I have talked about all this virtual reality friends stuff before. But you people are friends (like it or not) and I have come to depend on you guys. I know I don’t play as much as I used to. And I know more than a few of you have come or gone in one way or another. Be it leaving the game or leaving the guild. I miss all of you whom I don’t see on my friends list in game any more. But with any luck it looks like the lot of us will be back when World of Warcraft hits the store shelves.

Of course I got to mention Gawain. I met Gawain in Dark Age of Camelot. The Big G, what can I say about the guy? He’s crazy. He is also a good friend. His is one of the few sites I visit everyday. We maintain the same schedule and I can count on him keeping me entertained while I’m at work. We have a similar outlook on life, humor, and politics. We agree that Carrot Top has outlived his usefulness. G is just another guy I can’t say enough good things about. While your at it go buy some stuff from his Store.

And one final thanks goes out to all the goons at the hotel. Because really if it wasn’t for all of you people I wouldn’t be able to keep this website going. The hotel is my muse. It’s a love/hate relationship. Keep up the good work (bad work really, thank god their all a bunch a tards) you guys.

I saw this over at the IGN VE3D and told Gawain about it before I posted it. The end of the world is near, because Los Angeles officials have asked that manufacturers, suppliers and contractors stop using the terms “master” and “slave” on computer equipment. Here is a blurb from the CNN Article:

…came after an unidentified worker spotted a videotape machine carrying devices labeled “master” and “slave” and filed a discrimination complaint with the county’s Office of Affirmative Action Compliance.

This really has to be a sign that our civilization is on the downward spiral towards extinction.

This is going to be one of those “riddle me this Batman” kind of posts, just for the fact I’m fucking stumped. You see this morning I’m waiting to go home. Now I don’t know about anyone else, but when I’m scheduled to leave at 7:00 am I expect to leave at 7:00 am. I’m kind of funny that way. I’m getting ahead of myself.

So this morning I’m waiting to leave work. Now I give a person 5 minutes after my designated time before I call them. So of course the five minutes were up and I called the nice lady who was supposed to work. She explained that she had called the front desk manager at 5:30 am. She further explained that at 5:30 am the front desk manager told her they would come in.

Now this is were my attitude comes in. Because the way I do things (that is the way anyone with more than 4 years experience does things) is different than what went on this morning. Here are the events that went the way they were supposed to. 1. An employee isn’t coming in so she calls her “manager”. 2. The said “manager” tells the sick employee that they would work for them.

Now after that the way things normally would work get thrown right out the window. First if I were a “manager” I would have called the night audit guy to let them know I’m coming in for the employee who couldn’t come in. It’s the polite thing to do, and the night audit guy appreciates stuff like that. And besides being the polite thing to do the “manager” would have earned some respect from the audit guy. And let me tell you respect is earned, not given. Second if I were a “manager” I would make sure I came in on time. I mean I would have had enough of a warning in advance because the employee called me at 5:30 am. Because what kind of example is it I set as “manager” if I can’t come in on time? And none of this occurred. I was not called and told someone else was coming in. And yes I was a little pissed.

But I want it to be crystal clear I had no intention to write about this. I had no intention to say anything at all about this topic either here on my site or in the real world. But when I’m told that other employees were asked by this “manager” if my attitude was always like this I just had to say something. You see I had thought I had made my position clear on this kind of subject matter, but I guess I need to say it again.

Under the current regime I expect quite a bit. I expect a person to come in when they are scheduled. I expect this doubly so if it is a manager coming in. Because as I said above what does it say to me a peon, if a “manager” comes in late? Of course I realize this also applies to me. And I do my best to make sure I come in on time. In the last five years alone I have only missed one day (as far as I can remember). I also expect to leave at the time I’m scheduled to. So if I’m scheduled to leave at 7:00 am, then by god I expect to be walking out the doors at about 7:01 am. No exceptions on this one.

Now I expect all of this for a number of reasons. Reasons I have stated before. But I will cover them again. I’m paid a meager eight dollars and seventy five cents an hour. You the employer gets what they pay for. I have not got a raise or a review in over two years. I also don’t get vacation pay. It’s because of this I do not do more than what I’m payed to do. This means I just do the audit, that is it. And you will have to forgive me if I want to get the fuck out of the place when my time comes. There is no beyond the call of duty with me. You want that to change you now what you have to do. And you don’t have a lot of time on your hands.

So I had found a cool little program that would allow me to change the songs playing on my pc at home. You set it up and pick a port number for it to work. So it’s kinda a little web server. But as it turns out I picked the wrong port number, because I can’t get to it from this super gay Cendant isp we have.

So the current selection playing right now is thanks to Gawain. I had been listening to George Carlin for the last four hours and it was getting old. Don’t get me wrong I love Carlin. But I’ve heard that Back In Town album way to much. Kudos to the Big G for playing such a great selection of tunes.

So I like the idea of streaming music from my pc. It’s kind of liberating to be able assault the inhabitants of the internet in another way. I can play all kinds of weird shit that I like. From Joel to Sinatra. I can also inflict Bill Hicks on those of you who don’t know about my favorite comedian. I also want to play this 12 disc Lord Of The Rings set I have. Lots of options.

So Gawain has his radio station and now I have mine. I’m running SHOUTcast on my pc at home. Now you need Winamp to listen, which isn’t a problem as it is totally free. To listen just click this url. So far it’s been playing fine here on the work computer. The only snag I hit was not having the playlist at home on repeat, which caused it to endlessly play the last track.

I’m only going to be running the SHOUTcast server when I work. Mostly for my own entertainment of course. I’ll play a variety of stuff. But of course all of it will be shit I listen to. I may throw in a few surprises. Right now I have Billy Joel’s classic album Glass Houses going just to warn you if you listen. Yesterday was the 40th anniversary of the classic BBC science fiction program Doctor Who. In celebration of the anniversary they have produced an animated web show. The six episode show is called the Scream of the Shalka and it stars Richard E Grant as the ninth Doctor.
