	The Internet Returns 4:48 pm-Turk Comments (1) Show » Default Permalink The Charter repair guy fixed my net. It turns out the actual cable was bad and dude had to replace it. You can’t imagine how happy I am right now. I can surf for porn and torrents again.

	No Internet 6:15 am-Turk Comments (0) « Hide Default Permalink So my internet at home went out sometime late yesterday night. When I got home in the morning I called the Charter help line. Some chick in india walked me through unplugging my modem and waiting a minute before plugging it back in. It did not work. She then tried getting in to the modem. That failed as well. Me and india support lady decided the modem was dead. Before letting me go the india support lady tries to sell me Charter cable tv. I tried to explain to her that I had high speed internet and I did not need Charter cable. But she would have none of it and followed her script. I followed my script and hung on the support lady from india. I then drive to the Charter home base in my area and get a new modem. I shutdown my pc. I plugin in the new modem. I hook it all up to the pc and reboot my computer. I did not hook it up to my router. When Windows boots to my surprise the internet is still no where to be found. I call Charter again and get another lady from india. We go through the same shit. Unplug and plug back in. She tries to access the modem on her end and fails. So she arranges for someone to come to my today between one and five. Hopefully it’s not someone from india. To top off my irritation the this second support lady tries to sell me Charter tv. I again explain that I don’t need their tv I have high speed internet. This one tries to out do the first india support lady and when selling me tv fails she trys to sell me the Charter phone service. I look at the cell phone I’m talking into and ask the india support lady how is I’m communicating with her right now. At this point I’m kinda getting pissed off. I say to her I’m pretty sure we are communicating not by telegraph, morse code, or smoke signals but by phone already. I decline her offer. She of course continues to follow her script. Which at this point I give up and just hang up on the support lady from india. I hate people from india almost as much as I hate Charter’s stupid automated answering machine robot. I always end up cursing before I find the right keyword to get a real person to talk to. Agent is the magic word. So I’m writing this at work. I hope to be back on the net shortly after the times between one and five.

	Charter Suck’s Less 5:58 am-Turk Comments (0) « Hide Default Permalink Ok the last time I posted I was a little angry with Charter Support. I now have a working net connection at home. My problem is still more or less a mystery. I called Charter Support late last night and the gentleman I spoke with was more helpful than the last few. He didn’t volunteer the info I got from him. I had to ask the right questions. Which makes me think of the Dilbert strips were Dogbert runs a abusive tech support service. What I asked was if my firewall would cause any kind of problems. The guy said yes that could be. I told him I was running Zone Alarm Pro, and then asked which firewall they recommend. And of course Zone Alarm is at the top of their list. So I uninstalled Zone Alarm. Still had the problem. I reinstalled Zone Alarm. And I still had the problem. So because of the fact I was starting to show signs of withdrawl I decided to try a clean install of the os. Well not a totally clean install. Maybe a not as clean as it could be install. To make a long boring story a short boring story, I now have a working net connection. And to make it worse the second tech guy I talked to was right. Some where there was a software issue. I still can’t figure that one out.

	Charter Suck’s 12:46 am-Turk Comments (0) « Hide Default Permalink So for the last three days my high speed internet connection at home has been dead. I’m a little pissed at the fine folks at Charter Support. I’ve called these clowns a total of three times. After the first call I had their procedure down step by step. It’s kind of amazing how there are only a handful of things they can suggest for you to do. The second call the wonderful guy at Charter Support told me more or less it was my problem. The words he used were that I had a software or hardware problem on my end. Jeez could you cover yourself a little better than that? Fuck this really pisses me off. Just the fact I have to use my back up AOL account pisses me off even more at these fucking clowns at Charter Support. But at least I’m on the net. That’s what I keep telling myself.

I signed up for only the cheapest one and it moves like lightning. Only bad thing is that no more internet at work. Oh well.
