Fired-up South Beloiters expect big crowd Saturday is the extremely long headline for a Beloit Daily News story that appeared in the paper and the web yesterday. This is another story telling about how the stateline area has caught Sobo fever. Here is a bit that I wanted to point out (there is a point) so I can comment on something after it:

SoBo fever has spread from the players and parents to the entire community. Business owners worked earlier in the week to hang “Go SoBos!” signs in windows and on business signs. Even the South Beloit City Council is getting into the spirit.

The council, which includes four South Beloit High School graduates, approved giving $5,000 to the school district to help pay for items needed for Saturday’s game. The money comes from the Hotel Tax Fund, which is set aside to help promote tourism in South Beloit.

Notice how they mention how “Business owners worked earlier in the week to hang “Go SoBos!” signs in windows and on business signs”? The hotel tax fund is mentioned as a source of money for the game saturday. Where am I going with this?

Well the hotel I work at is the source of this hotel tax fund. They even have a member of the Sobo Football team (Alan Klemett (Defensive Line Stats: Tackles: Total: 16 Solo: 9 Assist: 7) Go Alan!) working for them. Has the hotel put up any Go Sobos on the great sign? Not as of the time of this post. Do the management plan to put up something supporting the Sobos? Note a chance in hell.

But here is what you Sobo fans need to do. Complain to that hotel. I work for the shithole so I can’t tell you the brand and name. Not outright, I can be sneaky about it. And seeing how as of late I have been getting a lot of hits regarding Sobos as of late it is time to test my power.

Go to this page for hotel info such as address and phone numbers. Call them today (friday) and tell them it’s terrible they are not supporting the Sobos. Let’s change the way the world is. Even if the change is a small and possibly insignificant one.
