	An Epitaph 5:28 am-Turk Comments (0) « Hide Default Permalink The man who is the General Manager of the hotel I work at is moving on. He is a man I have taken shots at a number of times in the past. The Letters from a General Manager comes to mind. For the rest you will have to do a search of my site and put in GM or General Manager. Their are lots of references to him. Guido (a former Manager of the hotel) expects me to maybe take one last shot at the GM. Let me give it a shot. In the GM’s letter that accompanied our paychecks he let the employee’s know about his departure. In it he says: It is with mixed emotions that I need to inform you I have accepted the position as General Manager at our hotel in Wisconsin. I personally will greatly miss the entire staff who I worked with over the past six years. Our company looks forward to a great 2001 at the hotel, and each of you are part of that. I will always be a part of this hotel, and will keep in touch with you into the future. Thank you for making my job here fun! (Most of the time.) Sincerely, The GM Now for the record I respect and admire what this man does. Before when I was at the hotel leading up to the time I got fired I never understood what a GM really does. Back then I would look at what this GM did and think shit anyone can do that. It looked like the guy sat in his office quite a lot. Well after being fired and sitting on un-employment for six months I went to work for a company called Amerihost Inns. I was a General Manager. It was hard. In fact I really fucking hated it. I also sucked at it big time. I just don’t have the people skills needed for the position. This hotel’s GM does! Now I know that being a GM isn’t something I want to do. I really don’t even like working as an auditor. But I respect those who can do it and make a good living while doing it. The GM is a good man. I wish that things in the past could have been different. I really will miss the guy. So to sum up, I apologize for all of the trouble I have caused this man in the past. I didn’t know what he did. I didn’t try to find out what the man did. I made fun of the man and what he does for a living without truly understanding what it was his job entails. No one put me up to this. No lawsuit was threatened. This is not my attempt at sarcasm. This is how I feel.
